How to Get Your Business on Google in Pakistan: A 2026 Guide

When someone in Lahore searches “web designer near me” or “best restaurant DHA Lahore,” Google shows a map and three business listings before any website results. That map section — the Local Pack — is often the most valuable real estate in search, and getting into it starts with one free step: creating a Google Business Profile.

Here’s how to do it, what to fill in, and what to do once it’s live.

Step 1: Create your profile at business.google.com

Go to business.google.com, sign in with your Google account, and click “Add your business.” Search for your business name first — if someone else has already created a listing for you (it happens), you’ll need to claim it instead of creating a new one.

Choose “Local Business” as the type. If you serve customers at a specific location (a shop, an office), enter your address. If you go to customers or serve an area without a fixed premises, choose “Service area business” — you can list the areas you cover (Lahore, DHA, Gulberg, etc.) without displaying a street address.

Step 2: Choose the right categories

Your primary category is the single most important field in your profile. It tells Google exactly what kind of business you are.

Be specific: “Web Design Company” ranks better for web design searches than “IT Company.” “Bakery” ranks better for bakery searches than “Food Business.”

You can add secondary categories too. A business doing both web design and SEO can list “Web Designer” as primary and “SEO Agency” as secondary.

Step 3: Fill in every field completely

Profiles with complete information rank higher and convert better. Don’t leave anything blank.

  • Phone number: use the number your customers actually call. Make sure it matches what’s on your website exactly — Google cross-references these.
  • Website URL: your full domain (https://velocedigital.co), not a social media profile.
  • Hours: set accurate hours. Listing hours you don’t keep damages trust and can hurt your ranking.
  • Description: 750 characters to explain what you do, where you operate, and what makes you different. Write for a person, not a search engine — mention Lahore and your main services naturally.
  • Services and products: add individual services with descriptions. Each one is another signal to Google about what you offer.

Step 4: Add photos

Profiles with photos get significantly more clicks than those without. You need at minimum:

  • Your logo (square format)
  • A cover photo (your workspace, your team, or your best work)
  • 3–5 additional photos of your work, your space, or your team

For a service business, photos of completed work are the most compelling. For a restaurant or shop, photos of the space and the product. Avoid stock images — Google knows, and so do your customers.

Step 5: Verify the listing

Google needs to confirm you’re a real business at a real location. The verification method depends on your business type:

  • Phone or text: Google calls or texts a verification code to your business number. Fastest option — usually available for established businesses.
  • Video verification: Google asks you to record a short walk-through of your business premises. Most common for new listings.
  • Postcard: Google mails a postcard with a code to your business address. Takes 5–14 days.

The listing won’t appear publicly in search until you verify.

After verification: the three things that actually move the ranking

A verified profile is the starting line, not the finish. Google’s own guidance is that local ranking comes down to relevance, distance, and prominence — in practice, that means:

Reviews. Google’s local ranking algorithm weighs the number and recency of your reviews heavily. Five genuine reviews from real customers will outperform a competitor with a complete profile and zero reviews. Send the direct review link to every client you’ve worked with: you’ll find it in your GBP dashboard under “Get more reviews.”

Consistent NAP across the web. NAP stands for Name, Address, Phone. If your business name is “Veloce Digital” on Google but “Veloce Digital Co.” on your website and “VD Digital” on a directory, Google sees inconsistency and ranks you lower. Pick one format and use it everywhere.

Proximity and relevance. Google shows local results based on where the searcher is. You can’t control this — but you can make sure your service area is set correctly so you appear for searches across the city, not just your immediate neighbourhood.

Common mistakes Pakistani businesses make with GBP

Creating multiple listings. Duplicate listings split your reviews and confuse Google. If you find a duplicate, report it via GBP rather than creating a third.

Leaving the description generic. “We provide high-quality services at affordable rates” describes every business and helps no one. Be specific about what you do, who you do it for, and where.

Never posting updates. GBP has a posts feature — short updates, offers, events. Posting once a month signals an active business to Google.

Not responding to reviews. Responding to every review (positive and negative) improves your profile’s visibility and shows potential customers how you handle problems.

Getting on Google is a free first step. Ranking above your competitors in the local pack is an ongoing process — it requires reviews, consistent information across the web, and in competitive markets, some dedicated local SEO work.

If your business isn’t showing up in local searches in Lahore — or anywhere else in Pakistan — and you’re not sure why, get in touch — a quick look at your current presence usually makes the issue clear.
