What Is a Website Care Plan? A Guide for Pakistani Businesses

Most small businesses in Pakistan launch a website and then leave it. The hosting is on auto-renew somewhere, the software hasn’t been updated in months, and the first time anyone thinks about the site again is when something breaks — usually a contact form that stopped working, or a security warning that started appearing in Chrome.
A website care plan is the answer to this. Here’s what it actually is, what it costs, and when it makes sense for a business like yours.
What a care plan covers
A care plan is a fixed monthly fee that covers the ongoing operational needs of a website. What’s included varies by provider — make sure you know exactly what you’re getting before you sign anything. A well-structured plan typically covers:
Hosting. Your site needs to live on a server. A care plan usually includes managed hosting — meaning the server is maintained by someone else and performance is their responsibility, not yours.
Daily backups. If something goes wrong — a failed update, a hacked plugin, a botched content edit — a recent backup means you’re restoring a previous version of the site, not rebuilding from scratch. The backup is only useful if it’s recent and if someone is actually running the restore.
Security monitoring. Malware scans, uptime monitoring (so someone is alerted when the site goes down before your customers tell you), SSL certificate renewal, and watching for vulnerability reports in any software running on the site.
Software updates. If your site runs on WordPress or any CMS with plugins, those plugins release updates constantly. An unpatched plugin is one of the most common ways websites get hacked. A care plan includes reviewing and applying these updates safely.
Content updates. Most care plans include a set number of small content changes per month — updating a phone number, swapping an image, correcting a price, adding a new team member. This is distinct from larger development work, which usually comes with a separate quote.
What a care plan doesn’t cover
Redesigns or new features. If you want to add a new section, change the layout, or build a new page from scratch, that’s development work. Care plan hours don’t stretch to cover this — most providers give a separate quote and a discounted rate for care plan clients.

Content creation. Writing new blog posts, product descriptions, or service pages isn’t usually included. Some providers offer content add-ons, but it’s typically a separate line item.
When a care plan makes sense — and when it doesn’t
A care plan makes sense if:
- Your site is your primary way customers find or contact you
- You don’t have internal technical staff who can handle hosting and updates
- You’ve had security issues before, or your site runs on WordPress (higher security risk than static sites)
- You want to make small updates regularly without going back to an agency for each one
A care plan probably isn’t worth it if:
- Your site is a simple static page that doesn’t change and doesn’t run any CMS software
- You have an internal developer who handles maintenance
- Your business is in an early stage where the site is intentionally minimal and temporary
What care plans cost in Pakistan
Care plan pricing in Pakistan varies widely — from Rs 3,000/month for basic hosting-only arrangements to Rs 25,000+/month for fully managed plans with generous content update hours, priority support, and security monitoring.
The gap between “hosting only” and a real care plan is significant. Hosting without monitoring means no one knows if the site goes down. Hosting without updates means plugins pile up unpatched. Make sure whatever you’re paying for includes the things that actually protect your business.

The question to ask your current provider
If you already have a hosting arrangement and you’re not sure what’s included: ask them when the last backup was taken, when the software was last updated, and whether there’s uptime monitoring on the site.
